It is part of the watershed of the Pascagoula River. It is popular as a place to enjoy whitewater canoing or kayaking. While it has no raging rapids, it offers plenty of fun for the causal canoe enthusiest and a relaxing float for everyone. It offers great half-day or full-day trips. Furthermore, the southern Mississippi climate allows for enjoyment of the river in the spring and fall where you can enjoy the sights and fragrences of the flowers and new leaves in the spring and the beautiful fall colors in Autumn. The Okatoma Creek (sometimes called the Okatoma River) is a popular place to enjoy canoeing, picnicking, camping and other outdoor activities. The river offers lots of calm tranquil areas, is easy to paddle a canoe or kayak on and the boats can be landed past the whitewater when desired.
